Ashley Lewis, Principal

Principals Message:

Greetings Johnston-Hopkins Family,

It is with great excitement that I write this letter to introduce myself as
the principal of Johnston-Hopkins Elementary School. I am truly
honored to serve in this role and look forward to continuing my
educational journey here, in this capacity. I can assure you that I am
committed to working diligently for the betterment of teachers, students,
staff, and the community. Working together, we will continue to provide
students with an enriching school experience.

As an educator, I am entering my thirteenth year of service to Iberia
Parish School District, by way of Hopkins Street Elementary and
Johnston-Hopkins Elementary. I dedicated four and one half years to
educating the little minds of Kindergarteners, one year as the Behavior
Master Teacher, Crisis Team Leader and DA Gatekeeper, and five
years as the 3-6 Math and Science NIET Master Teacher and PBIS
Team Leader. Preceding the role of master teacher, I also had the
opportunity to serve as a TAP/NIET mentor teacher. Additionally, I have
served two years as Assistant Principal.

This principalship will provide the chance to work collaboratively with all
stakeholders, while remaining connected to our students’ learning and
growing in the classroom. As an educator, I believe wholeheartedly that
every child deserves a quality and equitable education. I believe that
every child can excel. The partnership between home and school
builds confidence in students to use their knowledge and skills to shape
their future and the future of our community and our nation.
So let’s band together to ensure that your child is educated in a safe
and orderly environment. If throughout the course of this year you have

any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to me at aslew- or 337-369-9687. Together, we will succeed!

Wishing everyone a productive and enjoyable school year,

Ashley Lewis, Principal
